PRINCE2®

PRINCE2® (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) was developed by the UK government to manage its projects.

PRINCE2 is the most successful project management method in the world – it has become a de facto standard in both the private and public sectors.

PRINCE2 provides common processes, management products roles and language for use throughout all an organisation's projects.

Examinations

  • Foundation - a one hour multiple-choice closed-book examination with 75 questions (5 of which are trial questions: 35 to pass)
  • Practitioner - a two and half hour multiple-choice open-book (PRINCE2 Manual only) examination with a total of
    108 marks available (59 marks, 55% to pass).
  • Re registration - a one hour multiple-choice open-book (PRINCE2 Manual only) examination with a total of 36 marks available (20 marks, 55% to pass)

Foundation only

Overview

The PRINCE2(r) Foundation course is the accredited PRINCE2 course with preparation for the Foundation exam. The exam evaluates delegates' knowledge on the concepts, terms and theoretical aspects of PRINCE2. The course is packed full of real world examples and sample exercises, to both prepare for the exam and apply the method in the workplace.

    • Plans Example plans, planning procedure, plan types: exception, project and stage plans, product based planning, and risks.
    • Risk What is risk, risk management policy, example documentation, risk management procedure, identify opportunities and threats
    • Change What is configuration management, configuration management procedure, Issue and change control procedure
    • Progress Example documents, tolerances: Timescales, costs, scope, risk, quality, benefit; stages, lessons, raising exceptions

Re-registration

Overview

This course prepares you for the PRINCE2 Re-registration examination.  If you have been a PRINCE2 Practitioner for between three and five years you need to take the re-registration exam in order to maintain Registered Practitioner status.

This is often the Practitioner portion of a training course. Scenarios will be covered based on the APMG sample Practitioner exams. It is primarily to prepare you for the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam, sat on the last day.

If you sat your Practitioner exam during or before 2009 you may wish to consider a special 3-day event that informs you of the changes between the old and new versions of PRINCE2.
